Government Spending

This is a presentation on government spending. It is the most understandable way I have ever seen it presented, combining narration, visible charts, and words to read all at the same time. Check it out.

What Determines My FICO Score?

Payment History 35%
Amounts Owed 30%
Length of Credit History 15%
New Credit 10%
Types of Credit Used 10%

How do you increase your fico score?
1. Pay your bills on time.
2. If you have missed payments, get current and stay current.
3. Paying off a collection account will not remove it from your credit report.
4. If you are having trouble making ends meet, contact your creditors or a credit counselor.
5. Keep balances low on credit cards and other revolving credit (use less than 50% of your total limit).
6. Pay off debt rather than moving it around.
7. Don't close un-used credit cards.
8. Don't open new credit cards just to increase your available credit.
9. Do your rate shopping for a given loan within a focused period of time.
FICO scores distinguish between a search for a single loan and a search for many new
credit lines, in part by the length of time over which inquiries occur.

Complete Not Compete

Complete not Compete. When you feel yourself trying to compete with someone else whether it is inward or outward....Just celebrate the other person and tell them how great you think they are! It is the way out of envy and jealousy. The humble road is always the best one. Try making yourself celebrate someone else.

Fear of Failure

Fear of Failure will keep you from enjoying the journey. Have you ever been so focused on trying not to trip when you are out for a run or walk... that you forget to look up and see the beauty around you? In life, this is so easy to do. Being so careful that even though you may achieve your goal, you missed the life to live on the way.

Law of Averages

Big tasks can be intimidating. My mentor told me...."How do you eat an elephant?" and because I have had the conversation before, I always say...."One bite at a time." It is so true! I think the Law of Averages is encouragement for the people who can't do every task in one try. SO....the point....
Building systems into your life that line up with your beliefs. If you say you believe in something...whether a dream, goal, or core values....daily put a drop in the bucket. The great thing about the law of averages is as you drop a little in the bucket daily....you get to build off of what you put in yesterday....so there you have it...MULTIPLICATION!

Thoughts for the Readers

If you are not willing to sacrifice for where you are going, you must not want to go there that bad.

Surround yourself with people that are better than you and they will save you from a life of complacency and arrogance. You will always see a place to grow and you'll never be able to believe the lie you have it all together.

Health- Building a Foundation for the Future

I had some thoughts come to me today about health. Often times, I have given much energy and attention to finances and our personal business, but why would I not give the same dedication and care to my health? I thought to myself....Being healthy now is like building a foundation for my future. Much like finances, I build a retirement and an income for the future, yet I will neglect the foundation of health I will need to enjoy it. It is time to build my health retirement. To invest in having the most healthy body I can have to ensure a heritage of life and enjoyment. And I don't mean big muscles and a great butt! I mean core systems functioning in optimum condition!

If You're Poor, Take a Rich Person Out To Dinner.

I would like to modify this and say, find the people who are better than you in any given area and take them out to dinner to listen. Invest in your future. If you get a successful person to eat and talk for 2 hours they will more than likely end up sharing some powerful hints. Of course, as my mentor taught me, everyone has something to give. Never underestimate the power of any relationship. Look for the best in people and you will find it.

Jim Rohn inspired the previous selection, but here are some direct quotes from him.
1. Taking care of yourself is one of the answers to doing well.
2. Get around successful people and listen.
3. Find out what poor people read and don't read it.
4. We have 16 waking hours. Practice listening those 16 hours.
5. From surprising sources comes great ideas.
6. Poor people ought to take rich people out to dinner and listen...

What Does How You Spend Your Time Say About You?

Successful people know where their time is going. How much time do you watch TV, exercise, study, spend time with people you love. Do the hours line up with your priorities? To start being successful, make your priority list and order your time to line up with what you believe matters. If you are spending 5 hours a day watching tv (national average of how much people watch) and only 30 minutes with your spouse, you might want to realign....not to mention, what are you watching? Is it edifying, instilling hope, causing you to dream and believe for a greater place than where you are......I know every moment can't be purposed....but wait, why couldn't it be? How purposed do you want to live....you can decide for yourself. Where you spend your time is like how you keep your checkbook. It says everything about your priorities.

What Does Hope Do for Mankind? by John Maxwell

Hope shines brightest when the hour is darkest.
Hope energizes when the body is tired.
Hope sweetens when the bitterness bites.
Hope believes when the evidence is eliminated.
Hope climbs over obstacles when no one is helping.
Hope smiles confidently when no one is laughing.
Hope presses toward victory when no one is encourages.
Hope brings the victory when no one is winning.
Hope motivates when discouragement comes.
Hope sings when all melodies are gone.
Hope listens for answers when no one is talking.
Hope endures hardship when no one is caring.
Hope reaches for answers when no one is asking.
Hope dares to give when no one is sharing.

Losing hope precedes loss of life itself.
You don't need a better environment you need more hope.
Leaders are dealers in hope.

How Do Your Relationships Play Into Your Success?

You can't be successful without them. Relationships are the foundation to move beyond where you are to where you are going. You can't move forward in life without sound relationships. Relationships are the fuel for success. There must be established core people in our lives, and those core people must believe and stand with us in where we are going. If you are not in agreement with your core relationships.......Perhaps, you have chosen the wrong relationships to put your greatest effort, time, and energy into....Find the people who believe in you...and Stick With Them. Find the people that are doing what you want to be doing....and Do That.

To Be Successful or Not To Be

A Few Notes from Harvey Mackay (CEO & Founder of Mackay Envelope Company)

This company does $100 million a year in sales.

How did he do this? He believes it is about the people.

1.) "If you demonstrate that you care about others, they'll want to do business with you."
2.) "Do what you love, love what you do, and deliver more than your promise."

3.) Mackay 66 - 66 questions Mackay asks every customer, potential customer, and supplier....
a.) favorite restaurant
b.) preferred topics of conversation
c.) professional goals
d.) attitudes and concerns

WHY? "People buy from other people they like based on chemistry and people skills"

OTHER GREAT QUOTES/IDEAS FROM HARVEY

"Find something you love to do and you'll never have to work another day in your life."
"Keep up with every single person you meet."
"Successful people have mentors."

Last Thing: Don't feel bad for needing coaching/help/guidance. Harvey Mackay had 20 coaches. One for every aspect of his life. -Speech, Writing, Humor, Language, Marathon, Golf, Tennis, etc......

What I got from all this....
Success is a purpose thing....not an accident thing.

Mozart wrote his first musical composition at age 4, Beethoven at 13. Alexander the Great conquered most of the civilized world by the time he was 27. Napoleon defeated Italy at age 26.

Tips for Encouraging Yourself

1.) List your Strengths when you believe you come across them. Keep them on a post-it on the side of your computer screen.

2.) Come up with a Life Sentence --- (discussed by John Maxwell). "a statement summarizing the goal and purpose of one's life."

Some Examples...
a. John Maxwell: "I want to add value to leaders who will multiply value to others."
b. Mel Robbins: "I make a difference every day."
c. Clare Boothe Luce: "I want to be a great communicator."

3.) Actively read and study things that encourage you and touch on the things you are passionate about.

Say Hello First

Sam Walton: Made In America,” one of Sam's college friends said that Sam walked across campus trying to be the first one to say “hello” to everyone he met.

Have you ever noticed that you can break the awkwardness with people you see by being the first to burst out with a friendly hello....just confronting your intimidation with a healthy HEY THERE, HOW ARE YOU DOING!

Be the First to say Hello Today!

Profiles In Greatness

Profiles in Greatness - Visit SUCCESS.com/Greatness
In Winston Churchill's profile, it shows a quote of his.
  1. Everything I was sure or taught to be sure was impossible, has happened.”
  2. “We must look to the future. We cannot afford to drag forward across the years that are to come the hatreds and revenges which have sprung from the injuries of the past.”
One other Interesting Fact about Churchill .....
Even after the Germans began bombing London during World War II, Churchill ran Britain’s campaign from the city. He lived and worked in an underground bunker, as did many Londoners. Despite pleas from aides and Parliament, Churchill’s refusal to evacuate helped foster a spirit of determination and courage among British subjects.

Doesn't this just make your heart burn with passion inside of you! What zeal he had! It just takes a little time and persistence to get the wisdom to go with it.

The Job of an Entrepreneur

Robert Kiyosaki-
The entrepreneur’s most important job is to design a business that can grow, add value to its customers, bring prosperity to all those who work on the business, be charitable and eventually no longer need the entrepreneur. Before there is a business, a successful entrepreneur is designing this type of business in his or her mind’s eye. According to my rich dad, this is the job of a true entrepreneur.
